Now that you are finally free from the nightmare that is called “spider veins”, there’s no stopping you from flaunting those flawless legs. Although you can completely do so, you still have to take proper caution for you to achieve your desired results at the end of your recovery. There is no need to worry though. Taking care of your legs after laser vein treatment is easy.

Managing Pain and Other Symptoms

After the procedure, you will feel some pain but this should only be minimal to none. If such pain occurs, over-the-counter pain medications, like aspirin or ibuprofen, can easily alleviate this discomfort. The treated area will also appear reddened and swollen following the procedure. This is normal and will disappear after a few days.

Sun Exposure Is a No-No

Being treated with lasers, your skin becomes extra-sensitive to ultraviolet light, so it is best to avoid sun exposure for a few days after the procedure. If going under the sun is inevitable, prepare your skin by applying sunblock with SPF of at least 20. Do this for about four weeks after treatment. Being clumsy with sun exposure can increase your risks for permanent hyperpigmentation as well as other complications.

Consider Your Skin as ‘Baby Skin’

This means that after you have had treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to a lot of products, including makeup, perfumes, and constant scratching or rubbing. It is advisable to refrain from applying makeup 24 hours after treatment and from using perfumed substances or aftershave for about 48 hours after. Scratching and rubbing the treated areas will also put you at risk for acquiring infection.
