One of the most common questions from first-time visitors here at our Los Angeles nonsurgical cosmetic practice is which injectable works best for them — would it be the most popular Botox or should they consider dermal fillers? If you’ve spent a lot of time doing some research but has not figured out yet which injectable is ideal for you, read on below!

When to Choose Botox

By and large, Botox is suitable for active or recently formed facial lines. The much-hated crow’s feet, frown lines, and laugh lines. If you’re afraid that this will result to loss of the ability to show emotion, this is actually not the case here at our practice. We aim to keep the results as naturally subtle as possible. You also get the same benefits from Botox derivatives such as Dysport and Xeomin. The results of Botox could last between 3 to 6 months.

When to Choose Dermal Fillers

If Botox are for for active facial lines, dermal fillers are ideal for firmly-established wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds (around the mouth). Fillers are also great for filling in parts with evident volume loss such as the cheeks and lips. Results of fillers may vary; it could last 4 to 12 months for Juvederm, Radiesse, and Restylane while it could be between 1 to 2 years for Sculptra.
