Fraxel is an FDA approved laser skin procedure that is designed to help restore skin back to its natural, healthier self. By using a speciality skin resurfacing laser, dermatologists and medical aestheticians are able to use Fraxel to help improve pore sizes, help with scarring, and even reduce fine lines and wrinkles. And although Fraxel can be considered a “miracle” by many patients and doctors alike, it’s important to understand just how to properly care for your skin after getting Fraxel done. Read on to learn more.

  1. Avoid the Sun
Because your skin will be extra sensitive and gentle to even the smallest things like touch, it’s crucial that you stay away from the sun for at least a few days after the procedure. If for some reason you can’t avoid being outside in the direct sunlight, make sure that you wear a large brimmed hat and a sunscreen that has a high SPF in it. As an extra form of protection from the sun, wear an SPF all over your face for simple outings outside of the house like even riding in the car.
  2. Stay Hydrated
After any sort of skin or laser procedure, it’s important to keep your body as hydrated as possible. Right after your Fraxel treatment and for the remaining portion of the day, make sure that you are drinking enough water. The water will help your skin feel faster and will help you feel better overall.
  3. Apply a Gentle Moisturizer
Starting the day after your Fraxel treatment, keep your skin feeling as good as possible by applying a gentle moisturizer across your face. Make sure that when applying the moisturizer that you avoid applying too much pressure as this could just cause your skin to feel more irritated than before.
