Lasers are old news in the medical field. They have been used to treat skin conditions, whiten teeth, and perform surgeries. Now they are at the forefront of yet another treatment: varicose veins. If your veins are becoming visible near the surface of your skin or even starting to pop out, there is a laser treatment that can help remove these unwanted veins.

What Are Varicose Veins?

Otherwise known as spider veins, varicose veins occur thanks to poor circulation or weak vein walls. Both of theselaser vein removal conditions cause the amount of blood in each vein to increase and pool, causing the veins to then pop out of the skin. To clarify, spider veins are the same as varicose veins, just of a smaller size.

The best way to treat these veins varies from person to person, but treatments include compression garments, liquid injections that cause the vein to clot and self-destruct, surgery, or ablation. It might seem weird or counter-intuitive to completely destroy a vein, but if it’s not working properly, it will not harm your body to get rid of the abnormal vein. In fact, it will probably help improve circulation.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments are ideal for spider veins, as they are smaller and therefore most likely don’t need full-on surgery to be treated. The Viridis Laser treatment here at Los Feliz Med Spa sends pulses into the vein that match the pulses of blood vessels when they are relaxed. It simultaneously heats the walls of the blood vessels, sealing them off and therefore destroying them.

Essentially, this treatment kills the already-damaged veins, leaving them to gradually disappear as they are absorbed back into the body. It only takes about half an hour to complete and leaves the surrounding skin and tissue completely undamaged. Treatments should  be repeated over the next month or two, but after 2 or 3 treatments and 8 weeks, you should start to see the desired results.

You shouldn’t have to worry about not wearing shorts or short skirts due to your spider veins. You should also treat them before they can get worse. So instead of being self-conscious, put those lasers to work here at the med spa.
